Impact of Perceived Social Support and Social Skills on Adolescent’s Self- Esteem: The Social Support Theory Perspective

Adolescents place more emphasis on social relationships which help them to develop a positive selfview. Based upon support theory, this study aimed examine the impact of perceived support, measured from three trajectories (perceived family friends and significant other support) adolescent’s self-esteem moderating effect skills. To attain objective, we developed conceptual model collected data 253 bachelor students in state University, Sri Lanka. Data were analyzed with aid SmartPLS 3.3. The results showed that family, friends, others significantly influences adolescents' development. Moreover, moderation analysis skills moderate only association between friend selfesteem. study's collection was limited one point time, could not capture how develops over time. Thus, future researchers need our research different time points. Theoretical practical implications are discussed.
